HAMMER KING Hammer is the King

As usual we like to present you some newcomers on our pages. This time we are offering you Hammer King one more act that has signed a deal with Cruz Del Sur Music. So far they’ve released two full-lengths and they’ve just issed their brand new record out.

Please, also could you present Hammer King as the band to our readers since this is the very first time that we have a chance to have an interview with you.

Titan: Hello Metal Sound Magazine, it’s a pleasure talking to you! The legend says that the Hammer King founded the band in 1978 and we actually started working on songs in 2014. Our first album “Kingdom Of The Hammer King” was released in May 2015 and now we see “King Is Rising” released in November 2016 – both through Cruz Del Sur Music, a great label! Since my working with Ross The Boss somehow ended some years ago, it was time for pure and straight Heavy Metal, traditional and true. Hammer King is the band for that.

As a matter of fact you have a brand new record King is Rising so tell us something about a newer record? Could you present it from your point of view?

While the first album “Kingdom Of The Hammer King” was a pure spontaneous thing, coming up with a strong second album was something different. We are very convinced that “King Is Rising” is every bit as strong as the debut, it is a bit different, a bit more mature and a bit more self-confident.

In fact King is Rising is your 2nd full-length so tell us something more about your previous album? Could you compare your new record with your previous release?

Titan: It is hard to compare them, they are like brothers. Both albums are traditional Heavy Metal and both albums totally sound like the same band. When we play songs off the “Kingdom Of The Hammer King” live along songs of “King Is Rising” they feel naturally with each other. It’s like when you have one great movie and then the next movie is also great and you watch them one after the other.

When it comes to Hammer King do you have any live shows in mind soon? Are you active actually when it comes to live performances?

Actually, we are in Rome right now. We are playing the Burn This Town festival run by our label Cruz Del Sur Music. We’re sharing the stage with Sacred Steel, Rosae Crucis and Battle Ram. We have just debuted in Austria to a raving audience and next Saturday we will play a release show in Kaiserslautern. We have booked shows up to summer and we are always booking more shows.

Hammer King is usually compared with some quite big name like Accept, Manowar or Grave Digger. Do you agree that your music is influenced by those bands?

Everyone in music and in Heavy Metal is always influenced by everything that has been before. I believe that Hammer King is very much a traditional Metal band. Are we directly influenced by anyone? We have the same spirit, but we play whatever the King comes up with, the Hammer is the King!

As a matter of fact Hammer King’s members were involved in many other bands so could you tell us something about those bands?

I have been in Ross The Boss and Dolph has been with Saltatio Mortis – all of us had several other bands before. And all these bands and shows have been a great lesson – but the moment we started playing for the King, the moment we did the first demos, the first video, we knew that this is what we do best!

Hammer King is very active in this moment. In just two years you have released two records and you are already on good label. So, what’s the next step for the band?

We are very happy with Cruz Del Sur Music, now that we are here in Rome, we have bonded even more. We are in contact with a booking agency, which will provide us more shows. We are on a mission “For God And The King” and we will play as many shows as possible! We will start writing new songs in the next months as well and hopefully we will bring HK3 to the Metal People in 15 months. The panzer is on fire, we will keep marching.

Thank you very much for the support, hope to talk to you again very soon! God bless the King, may the King bless you!
